Location-based Social Networking Application

The Opportunity
The client was a seed stage startup in Northern Europe, looking to converge many of the location-based services currently available: social networking, deals and events. The startup were looking for a partner to help build the core functionality of the mobile application they had conceptualized.

Genweb2 Solution Summary
The application requirement called for an extremely scalable, extensible and robust system. In order to achieve the goal of bringing together thousands of potential users and their online contacts to their mobile devices, Genweb2 architects used industry-leading open technologies and frameworks to design a system that can be easily scaled, deployed, and enhanced. We used PHP Symfony 2 framework, Apache tomcat, Mongo DB, and Solr search platform to create an extremely responsive and extensible system. Connectors with most of the popular social networking platform allow users to connect and view their online contacts and their activities form a central application. The system was deployed on Amazon Web Services cloud to guarantee high availability, fault tolerance, and instant scalability.

The Results
The first release of the mobile application was launched in Q1 2013 on the iTunes store and Play store. The startup was able to keep their development costs low and retain capital for post-launch marketing.
